New Delhi: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final witnessed a tough battle as Mumbai Indians (MI) managed to score 149 runs while batting first against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Brabourne Stadium. This is the lowest team total recorded at this venue in the ongoing season. Mumbai’s batting lineup struggled, but captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a crucial knock of 66 runs, keeping her team in the fight. Nat Sciver-Brunt, the tournament’s leading run-scorer, contributed 30 runs to the total.
Mumbai Indians Register Lowest Score at Brabourne
Before this final match, the lowest total at Brabourne Stadium in WPL 2025 was 166 runs, which Gujarat Giants posted against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. However, MI has now recorded the lowest score at this venue this season. Interestingly, no WPL final has been a high-scoring match so far.
Delhi Capitals’ bowlers dominated the innings, with Nallapureddy, Jess Jonassen, and Marizanne Kapp taking two wickets each. Annabel Sutherland also chipped in with a crucial wicket to restrict MI to a modest total.
Nat Sciver-Brunt Creates History
Nat Sciver-Brunt became the first player in WPL history to score over 500 runs in a single season. She amassed a total of 523 runs in WPL 2025, including five half-centuries. The previous record for most runs in a WPL season was held by Ellyse Perry, who scored 347 runs in WPL 2024.
Apart from her outstanding batting, Sciver-Brunt also took nine wickets before the final, making her a strong contender for the Player of the Tournament award. With her consistent performances throughout the season, she has undoubtedly been one of the standout players in WPL 2025.
Now, all eyes are on Delhi Capitals’ chase—can they successfully chase down 150 runs to lift the WPL 2025 trophy, or will Mumbai Indians defend their total and claim back-to-back titles? The final promises an intense battle between the two top teams of the season.
