One Year B.Ed Course:- There is great good news for the students doing B.Ed! If you dream of becoming a teacher, your dream can be fulfilled even sooner. The National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) has made a big announcement. It is reported that the B.Ed degree will be only one year long from the next session!
Yes, you heard it right! NCTE (National Council for Teachers Education) is working fast on this course and is all set to release its policy in March next month. This means that the path to becoming a teacher will be easier now.
Who can take admission in one year for a B.Ed?
There is a little point to note here. To gain admission to a one-year B.Ed program, you must have a 4-year graduation degree under the new education policy. If you have done 3 years of graduation, then the B.Ed course will still be 2 years for you. But, if you have done a 4-year graduation course, this one-year B.Ed is a golden opportunity for you! Especially for those youth who want to make their career in the field of teaching.
Change again after 10 years!
This significant change in the Teacher Education Policy is expected to be implemented from the session 2026-27. You may remember, till 2015, B.Ed was only one year after graduation. However, NCTE increased it to two years. Due to the increase in the course duration, the number of students taking admission was decreasing. Since the implementation of the new education policy, there has been a consideration to reduce the duration of B.Ed again, and now this good news is coming out!
What is this 4-year course that is being talked about?
Here, we are talking about the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP). This is a 4-year teacher training course designed by NCTE itself. This course was started under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. According to the Chairman of NCTE, this course is currently running in 64 institutions in the country. Through this course, students can do a B.Ed in the subject of their choice. It is a 4-year dual degree graduation-level course.
