Simple Wave: The electric scooter market is witnessing exciting new developments every week, and this time, it is Simple Energy’s turn. Previously known solely for performance-oriented scooters, the company is now set to launch a brand-new model designed for everyday families. Let’s take a look at the details of this new scooter.
Launch
Simple Energy has confirmed the name of its new scooter: the ‘Simple Wave’. The company is scheduled to launch it on September 2nd. While the company has previously focused on performance-oriented models, the Wave will be its first scooter designed specifically for families.
This marks Simple’s entry into the mainstream family scooter segment, currently dominated by the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube. Interestingly, Ather is also set to launch its most affordable scooter on August 29th, promising intense competition in this segment over the coming weeks.
Comfort and Practicality
The Simple Wave is being designed for daily use, with a strong emphasis on comfort. The scooter has been spotted on the road several times during testing, revealing key details about its design and features.
It will feature a large, wide seat and an expansive floorboard to keep daily commuters comfortable. The suspension setup will include telescopic front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers. The braking system will combine a front disc brake and a rear drum brake, and a TFT instrument display has also been observed on the test models.
Range of up to 400km
The most talked-about aspect of the Simple Wave is its range. Reports suggest that this electric scooter could offer a range of up to 400km. This capability could make the electric scooter a more convenient option compared to petrol scooters. However, its true capability can only be gauged once the company releases the final figures regarding range and testing data.
One of the most interesting aspects of the Simple Wave is its low running cost. Reports indicate that the electricity cost to cover approximately 400 km is claimed to be around ₹65. In contrast, fuel expenses for daily commutes on a petrol scooter can be significantly higher.
Competition
The Simple Wave will face stiff competition in the electric scooter market. The TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak have already established a strong presence among consumers. Both models have carved out a solid niche for themselves through their designs, features, and reliable brand image.
