Vivo X500 Series: The smartphone world is abuzz once again, and this time, the excitement centres on Vivo. The company has made a major announcement regarding its next-generation flagship series. The Vivo X500 series is set to launch in just a few weeks, generating immense excitement within the tech community.
Most interestingly, it is poised to go head-to-head with Apple’s new iPhone series, as both companies are launching their products around the same time. Vivo plans to launch the X500 series in China this September, featuring three models and an impressive Zeiss camera setup.
Vivo X500 Series Launch
Vivo has officially confirmed that the new X500 series will launch in China in September. With Apple also preparing to release its iPhone 18 Pro series that same month, the competition promises to be fascinating. The lineup will consist of three models: the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max. Vivo has skipped the “400” series entirely, jumping straight from the X300 to the X500—a move attributed to “tetraphobia” (the fear of the number four).
Vivo X500 Series Camera
If you are a photography or videography enthusiast, this comes as a real treat. Vivo is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to camera technology. The company’s product manager, Han Boxiao, has confirmed that the X500 series will feature significant camera upgrades, with a special emphasis on mobile video capabilities.
Zeiss Super Dynamic Camera
The X500 Pro models will feature a new Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera, developed in collaboration with Vivo’s BluePrint imaging team and Sony. It incorporates the new BluePrint Guangyu 900 sensor—a 50-megapixel, 1/1.28-inch sensor—designed to capture a wide dynamic range and handle both highlights and shadows.
This sensor can deliver a dynamic range of up to 17EV, which Vivo claims is the best in the industry. This means that even when shooting against a brightly lit background, details will not be lost. This technology will also apply to video recording, ensuring that greater detail is preserved in both light and dark areas across every frame.
Vivo X500 Series Video and Stabilisation
The X500 Pro series will feature powerful capabilities such as 4K 240fps slow-motion recording and 4K 120fps HDR video, including support for direct HDR output. Regarding stabilisation, the main camera is equipped with 3-degree OIS, which Vivo describes as offering gimbal-like stability.
Additionally, the phones will support CIPA 7.0 professional stabilisation, ensuring steady photos and videos without an external gimbal. The 3-degree OIS system has received special emphasis, particularly in the X500 Pro Max model. The lineup bears the internal codename “Thanos 500” and is expected to feature the same impressive 200-megapixel telephoto camera found in the Vivo X300 Ultra.
