In case travel is unavoidable:

– In situations where travel cannot be avoided due to urgent reasons, passengers can consider alternative trains or modes of transportation.

Meanwhile intense rainfall led to soil erosion along a railway section between Jamira in Assam and Bairabi in Mizoram on the Katakhal–Bairabi line, causing disruptions in train services in the area. Northeast Frontier Railway reported that approximately 50 meters of the railway track was impacted by soil erosion due to heavy rainfall on Thursday evening.

In response, railway officials promptly dispatched staff and resources to the affected location to commence repair and restoration efforts. As a result of the disruption, multiple train services have been either canceled, shortened, or rescheduled. For instance, the Sairang–Guwahati Express was abbreviated at Bairabi and is being rerouted back to Sairang.

To aid about 900 stranded passengers heading towards Aizawl from Sairang, the railway authorities have organized road transport, with 16 buses dispatched from Sairang. Likewise, the Silchar–Bairabi Passenger train was terminated early at Jamira, with alternative road transport arranged for passengers traveling to Bairabi.

The Guwahati–Sairang train was stopped at Hailakandi and the service between Hailakandi and Sairang has been canceled. Various other services scheduled for September 4 have also been affected.

The Northeast Frontier Railway has set up provisions for stranded passengers, offering drinking water and snacks at Jamira, Bairabi, and Sairang stations. Helpdesks have been established at Guwahati, Lumding, Naharlagun, Badarpur, and Sairang to provide passengers with information and assistance.

Railway staff are working tirelessly at the impacted site, while officials are closely monitoring the situation. Restoration efforts are in progress to clear the damaged area and resume normal train operations as soon as possible.
