Start Your Dairy With Just 25% Investment, Here’s How to Apply

Dairy Farming Scheme: If you are considering starting a business, dairy farming could be an excellent option. The Madhya Pradesh government is assisting people in starting dairy businesses through the ‘Mukhyamantri Dairy Plus Yojana’ (Chief Minister’s Dairy Plus Scheme). Under this scheme, there is a provision for individuals to acquire two Murrah buffaloes. According to the government, individuals from the general category receive a 50% subsidy, while those from Scheduled Castes receive a 75% subsidy. Let us explore the details of this scheme.

Who can avail the benefits of the scheme?
According to the government portal, the benefits of this scheme are available to all categories of people; it is not restricted solely to farmers engaged in agriculture. However, the scheme is currently being implemented only in the Sehore, Vidisha, and Raisen districts.

Individuals from the general category receive assistance of up to 50%, meaning they must cover the remaining 50% of the cost themselves. Meanwhile, individuals belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes receive assistance of up to 75%, meaning they must contribute 25% of the amount themselves.

Where to apply?
To avail the benefits of this scheme, beneficiaries should contact their nearest veterinary hospital or veterinary officer. They can also seek information from local officials of the Animal Husbandry Department. The process involves the Gram Sabha, Janpad Panchayat, and Zila Panchayat. Therefore, before applying, it is advisable to verify whether the scheme is currently operational in your area; you can confirm this with the Animal Husbandry Department.

Points to consider when starting a dairy business
It is important to note that success depends on more than just the government assistance provided. Factors such as proper housing for the buffaloes, clean water, fodder, timely vaccination, and medical care are essential. Additionally, it is wise to gather information regarding nearby dairies, markets, and potential customers for selling the milk.

Murrah buffaloes yield a reasonable amount of milk. However, not every animal produces the same quantity of milk; therefore, it is essential to gather information about the buffalo’s age, health, and milk yield before purchasing one.
