SSC CHSL Vacancies: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026. Candidates who have passed Class 12 and aspire to secure a government job can apply for the SSC CHSL examination. According to the notification issued by the SSC, a total of 2,536 candidates are to be recruited. The application process for the CHSL exam began on September 7.

Interested and eligible candidates can fill out the form on the official website until October 7. A key feature is that if any error occurs while filling out the online form, the Commission will allow corrections between October 16 and October 18.

Online applications have commenced following the release of the official advertisement on ssc.gov.in. However, several changes have been introduced in this recruitment drive. Similar to the CGL exam, sectional timing has now been implemented for the CHSL exam as well; each section will have a fixed time limit for answering questions.

Eligibility for SSC CHSL Recruitment

Candidates must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board.
For the post of Data Entry Operator in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, SSC, and the Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
Age will be calculated as of August 1, 2026. The age limit for this recruitment is 18 to 27 years.

Age relaxation is provided as follows: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD (General/OBC), 13 years for PwBD (OBC), and 15 years for PwBD (SC/ST).

Registration Fee

Candidates must pay an online registration fee. The registration fee for unreserved category candidates is ₹100. Candidates belonging to reserved categories have been granted a concession on the registration fee.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on a written examination. In the Tier-1 exam, candidates will face 100 multiple-choice questions worth a total of 200 marks, covering English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. The exam will last one hour. Candidates who qualify will be invited to appear for the Tier-2 exam.

Changes to the CHSL Exam

Sectional timing will apply to all four subjects in the Tier-1 exam: English, Reasoning, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. The total duration of 60 minutes has been divided into 15-minute slots for each section. Once the time limit for a section expires, candidates will no longer be able to access that section or answer questions within it.
In 2025, the total number of CHSL posts had risen to 3,522; however, the current recruitment advertisement lists 2,536 vacancies.
If candidates wish to raise objections regarding the exam answer key, the fee will now be ₹50 per question instead of ₹100.
A ‘sliding mechanism’ and FRTA (Further Review/Transfer Allocation) have been implemented for posts that remain vacant after document verification.
