The days of the IPL are drawing near. The new season will begin on March 26th. But before that, there’s a question: Will the matches be held in Bengaluru and Jaipur? The IPL Governing Council has sought answers from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals regarding this matter.
Two popular venues are in front of big questions ahead of IPL 2026 season
The Governing Council has given both franchises until January 27th to respond. According to a report in Dainik Jagran, both franchises will have to discuss the matter with their respective state cricket boards and reach a conclusion by January 27th. IPL 2026 will be held from March 26th to May 31st.

However, the schedule for the T20 league has not been announced yet. According to reports, the IPL match schedule will be announced after the election dates in Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Bengal are announced.

The report stated that while RCB may try to pretend that everything is fine and that they want to host matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, that’s not the case. Citing BCCI sources, the report stated that the Karnataka government passed a law following the Chinnaswamy incident, which holds the organizers responsible for any incidents that occur near a major match or event.

It’s being said that RCB’s owners are apprehensive about this. According to reports, RCB wants to play five of its matches at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. However, according to IPL regulations, it will need to obtain a NOC from the Mumbai Indians. If a franchise wishes to play matches in another franchise’s city, it must obtain a NOC, as per IPL rules. RCB also plans to play two matches in Raipur.
