Simple Wave Electric Scooter: The electric scooter market is set to witness some excitement. Bengaluru-based Simple Energy is gearing up to launch its new Wave electric scooter on September 2, 2026. The Wave will be the company’s first electric scooter designed specifically for the family scooter segment. It will be positioned below the ‘Simple One’ in the company’s product lineup. Let’s take a look at the details.
Practical Design
Regarding its design, test mules of the scooter have previously been spotted on the roads, revealing details about its styling and hardware. A standout feature is the large single-piece seat—crucial for a family scooter. It is expected to feature telescopic suspension at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. A robust suspension setup can significantly improve comfort on rough roads and during daily city commutes.
TFT Display
In terms of technology, the Simple Wave is not just an ordinary family scooter. A TFT instrument display has been spotted on the test scooters. However, the final design and complete feature list will be revealed at launch.
Modern digital displays offer much more than just speed readings; information such as battery status, range, riding data, and connected features can all be accessed on a single screen—a technology package Simple Energy might well offer with the Wave.
Range and Speed
As for range, reports suggest the scooter will offer 180 km, though Simple Energy has not yet officially confirmed this. Its top speed is expected to be around 70 kmph—a speed well-suited for city riding and standard highway use for a family scooter.
12-Inch Wheels
The Simple Wave is expected to come with 12-inch wheels at both the front and rear. Larger wheels can improve stability on city roads and help the scooter handle small potholes or uneven surfaces more effectively. In terms of braking, the test models feature a setup comprising a front disc brake and a rear drum brake. This combination suits typical family use.
Competition
The Simple Wave is launching at a time when the family electric scooter segment has already become highly competitive. It will compete against models such as the Ather Rizta, Bajaj Chetak, and TVS iQube. The Ather Konark is another option in this segment.
