Story of Maa Kalratri
According to mythology, when the demons Shumbha-Nishumbha and Raktabeej created terror in the three worlds, all the gods rushed to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva requested Mother Parvati to kill the demons. Mother Parvati took the form of Mother Durga and killed Shumbha-Nishumbha. But it was difficult to kill Raktabeej—every drop of his blood gave birth to a new Raktabeej. Then Mother Durga took the form of Mother Kalratri and killed Raktabeej and filled her mouth with the blood coming out of his body.
