Redmi 17 5G Launched: If you are a Redmi customer, there is good news for you. The company has launched a new budget-friendly phone, the Redmi 17 5G. If you are looking for a phone with a large battery priced under ₹16,000, this device could be an excellent choice. The Redmi 17 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 4 series chipset, whereas the Redmi 17 4G features a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra chipset, LPDDR4x RAM, and eMMC 5.1 onboard storage.

Both the Redmi 17 4G and Redmi 17 5G were launched simultaneously. Both smartphones pack a 7,500mAh battery, which is significantly larger than the battery found in the Chinese version. Let’s take a look at the pricing, features, and availability of these phones.

Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G Price and Availability 

The Redmi 17 4G comes in a single variant (4GB RAM and 128GB storage) priced at MYR 669 (approximately ₹16,000). On the other hand, the base variant of the Redmi 17 5G (with the same RAM and storage configuration as the 4G model) is priced at MYR 769 (approximately ₹18,000). The top-end variant of the Redmi 17 5G, featuring 4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, is priced at MYR 869 (approximately ₹20,000).

Both smartphones are currently available for sale at Xiaomi’s online store in Malaysia. Information regarding the launch date for the Indian market has not yet been revealed. The Redmi 17 4G is available in Black, Deep Blue, Lotus Purple, and Oak Green color options, while the Redmi 17 5G is available in Black, Deep Blue, and Vivid Orange shades.

The Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G are dual-SIM smartphones running on Android 16. Both phones feature an identical 6.9-inch HD+ (720 x 1,600 pixels) display that supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Both models also come with an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.

The Redmi 17 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s 4nm octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, offering a peak clock speed of 2.4GHz. It is equipped with an Adreno GPU, 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card. The Redmi 17 4G features the 12nm octa-core MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra chipset.

In terms of cameras, both the Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G sport a 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture. Both models include an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.05 aperture for selfies and video calls. For security, both phones feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock functionality.

Both the Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G pack a 7,500mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. For connectivity, both phones support dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. Both measure 170.12 x 78.42 x 8.8 mm and weigh approximately 232 grams.
