Ingredients required to make Rohu fish

6-8 pieces of Rohu fish

3-4 teaspoons mustard oil

2 tablespoons mustard paste (soaked and ground mustard)

1 large onion (finely chopped)

2 tomatoes (chopped)

2-3 green chillies

1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon red chilli powder

1 teaspoon coriander powder

Salt to taste

Green coriander for garnishing

Method of preparation

Marinate the fish
Apply turmeric and salt to the Rohu fish pieces and set them aside for 15 minutes.

Fry the fish
Heat the mustard oil and fry the fish in it until it becomes light golden, then remove and keep it aside.

Prepare the gravy

Add the onion to the same oil and fry till it becomes golden.

Now add ginger-garlic paste and stir.

After this, add the tomatoes, green chillies, and all the spices (turmeric, chilli, and coriander) and cook well.

Add mustard paste
When the oil starts separating from the spices, prepare the gravy by adding mustard paste and some water.

Cook the fish in the gravy.

Now add the fried fish to the gravy and let it simmer on a low flame for 5-7 minutes, allowing the spices to dissolve well into the fish.

Serve

Add green coriander on top and serve hot Bihari style Rohu fish curry with rice or roti.
