Ration Distribution Rules: If you are a ration cardholder availing the benefits of the government’s PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, this news is particularly important for you. The government provides free rations to cardholders; however, they often face difficulties in accessing these benefits due to issues with biometric authentication. Cardholders need not worry anymore, as the Department of Food and Public Distribution has addressed this issue on its social media platform, ‘X’.
The department explained that fingerprint authentication at ration shops often fails to match. In such cases, cardholders can verify their identity using an OTP, facial recognition, or other prescribed alternative verification methods.
Steps for Ration Cardholders
Verify via OTP.
If the ration distribution system supports the OTP option, you can verify your identity using an OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Ensure your mobile number is active for this purpose.
Face authentication is also an option.
Some systems allow for e-KYC or identity verification through face authentication. This process involves matching your face using a designated app and is very simple to complete.
Verify using other identity documents.
If there are issues matching your fingerprints, identity verification can be conducted using other documents in accordance with the rules applicable to the ration dealer. Documents such as the Aadhaar card can be used for this purpose. Options available in case of technical difficulties If the machine encounters a technical glitch and fingerprint authentication repeatedly fails, please inform the ration dealer about the issue. In such a situation, the option for alternative verification can be availed in accordance with the applicable rules.
