Post Office: The Postal Department has recently introduced a convenient service for Post Office savings account holders, allowing them to request personalized checkbooks online through net banking. This initiative, effective from July 18, 2026, aims to streamline the process and enhance customer experience for the millions using the Post Office’s internet banking facility.
Initially, customers had to physically visit the post office to request personalized checkbooks as per an order dated May 8, 2026. However, the department has now integrated this service with e-banking, enabling account holders to easily place their requests online from their homes or offices using computers or mobile phones.
Key features of the personalized checkbook service include the pre-printing of the account holder’s name on the check pages and free delivery to the registered address without any extra charges. The Postal Department anticipates that this digital move will save customers time and provide a more efficient banking experience.
Regarding charges, customers will not incur any fees for checkbooks containing up to 10 pages per calendar year. For checkbooks exceeding 10 pages, a Rs 2 charge per checkbook will be applied, automatically deducted from the specified savings account upon request.
To apply for a personalized checkbook online through net banking, Post Office customers can follow these simple steps:
– Log in to your Internet Banking account using your credentials.
– Navigate to the “General Services” section, click on “Service Requests,” and select “New Request.”
– Choose the “Personalized Check Book Request” option and proceed by selecting “Request Check Book” under “Operation Type.”
– Select the savings account number for charges deduction if needed, read and accept the terms and conditions, and submit your request online.
– Upon submission, you will see a confirmation page displaying account details. Confirm your request by entering the transaction password, and your request will be successfully processed.
