Unbroken happiness is obtained from God
Premanand Maharaj says that when a person is completely absorbed in Brahma, that is, God, he gets such a happiness that never ends. To understand this, he told a verse from the Srimad Bhagwat Gita:
"Brahmabhutah Paramatma na shochati na kaङिति. Samah sarveshu bhuteshu madbhaktiim labhate param."This means that the person who reaches the state of Brahma, neither feels sad about anything nor desires anything. He has the same feelings for all living beings and this gives him supreme devotion.
Maharaj Ji explained that Brahma is not a separate entity but a manifestation of all the Gods and Goddesses like Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. When our mind is focused on God, we get much more joy than the petty joys we get from worldly things.
Difference between 'Harsh' and 'Prasannata'
Premanand Maharaj explained the difference between 'Harsh' (happiness) and 'Prasannata' (bliss) in a very eloquent way. He gave an example: When we find a friend, a new car or a favourite thing, we feel 'Harsh'.
But this joy is momentary. For example, if we get a car today, we will feel happy, but if we meet with an accident tomorrow, we will feel sad. Similarly, if we meet someone today, we will feel sad about losing them tomorrow.
Maharaj Ji said that joy always ends in grief, while happiness is unbroken. It never ends and is only found in God. Because God is immortal and Sachchidananda, the happiness that comes from Him is also permanent.
Reason for depression and unrest
Premanand Maharaj explained why people are so depressed these days. They have all the comforts of the world, yet they do not have peace. The reason for this is that people have lost faith in God. When we do not have the power of God and devotion to Him in our mind, we become weak from within.
Today's bad food, negative thinking and worries make us afraid. Therefore, Maharaj Ji says that if you really want to be happy, there is only one way: the more you chant the name of God, the happier you will be.
If there is no Bhajan of God in life, then true happiness cannot be found, no matter what the circumstances. We must understand this thing for sure.
