Navratri 9 Days Bhog & Prasad – The festival of Navratri is considered very special in the Hindu religion. During these nine days, nine different forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Devotees observe fast, worship the Mother Goddess with rituals and offer food and offerings. There is a religious belief that every day a different form of the Goddess is offered her favourite things. By offering food with devotion and rules, one gets the blessings of Mother Durga and the problems of life are removed. So let us know which offering is made to which goddess during the nine days of Navratri and what is the belief behind it.

First day: Offering of ghee to Mother Shailputri.

Mother Shailputri is worshipped on the first day of Navratri. On this day, there is a tradition of offering pure cow’s ghee to the Goddess. It is believed that offering ghee fulfils the wishes of health, happiness and prosperity. Devotees offer ghee with devotion and take the prasad.

Second day: Sugar and candy to Mother Brahmacharini

Mother Brahmacharini is worshipped on the second day. On this day, sugar, sugar candy or Panchamrit is offered to the Goddess. It is said that offering and donating sweet things brings longevity and mental peace.

Third day: Kheer to Maa Chandraghanta

Mother Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day. On this day, milk and sweets made from milk are offered. Kheer is especially offered to the Goddess. It is believed that offering Prasad made of milk brings happiness and peace in life and provides relief from negative situations.

Fourth day: Malpua to Mother Kushmanda

Mother Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day. On this day, it is believed that Malpua should be offered to the Goddess. There is also a tradition of donating Malpua Prasad to the needy or deserving person after the puja. According to religious belief, this increases intelligence and wisdom.

Fifth day: Offering banana to Mother Skandamata

Mother Skandamata is worshipped on the fifth day. On this day, bananas are offered to the Goddess. There is a tradition of distributing bananas as prasad after the puja. It is believed that by offering bananas, the wishes of wisdom, happiness and prosperity are fulfilled.

Sixth day: Honey to Mother Katyayani

Mother Katyayani is worshipped on the sixth day. There is a tradition of offering honey to the Goddess on this day. According to religious belief, offering honey brings sweetness and positivity in life. Devotees offer honey with devotion and take the prasad.

Seventh day: Jaggery on Maa Kalratri

Mother Kalratri is worshipped on the seventh day. On this day, jaggery is offered to the Goddess. It is believed that offering jaggery provides relief from fear and negativity. Distributing jaggery prasad after the puja is also considered auspicious.

Eighth day: Coconut to Mother Mahagauri

Mother Mahagauri is worshipped on Ashtami Tithi. There is a tradition of offering coconut to the Goddess on this day. In many places, coconut is distributed as Prasad after offering it to the Goddess. According to religious belief, offering coconut fulfills wishes and brings happiness and peace in the family.

Ninth day: Halwa-puri to Maa Siddhidatri

Mother Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninth day of Navratri. There is a tradition of offering Halwa-Puri to the Goddess on this day. It is said that by offering Halwa-Puri to Maa Siddhidatri, one attains all the achievements and brings happiness and prosperity in life. Distributing Prasad after puja is also considered auspicious.

 Are these beliefs true?

The tradition of offering different offerings to different forms of the goddess during Navratri has been going on for centuries. This belief is based on religious texts and folk traditions. However, there is no scientific evidence regarding this. It is completely a matter of reverence and faith. Slight variations may be seen in these offerings in different areas.

Nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped during the nine days of Navratri. There is a tradition of offering a different offering every day.
