2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift: Mahindra is preparing to update the popular 3-door Thar once again. While Mahindra introduced several changes to the Thar last October, the company is now working on a proper facelift. The new SUV has recently been spotted featuring an updated front fascia and a distinct grille design.
The 2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift is expected to launch later this year. During testing, the facelifted model was seen with a new grille and alloy wheels. It is expected to feature cabin upgrades and Level 2 ADAS, while retaining the existing engine options.
New Grille
A key highlight of the new Thar Facelift will be its grille design. While the grille of the current 3-door Thar is well-known, the new test mule reveals a distinct, more retro-style grille. Although it retains a connection to the current 3-door Thar’s design language, the new grille features a more rectangular shape.
19-Inch Alloy Wheels
The facelift will bring changes beyond just the grille; the wheels are also being updated. A five-spoke alloy wheel design—distinct from the current 3-door Thar’s wheels—was spotted during testing. This design resembles the alloy wheels found on the Thar Roxx. However, it remains unclear whether these wheels will be standard across all variants or exclusive to higher trims.
Cabin
Regarding the interior, Mahindra plans to modernise the cabin alongside the exterior updates. A major expectation is the inclusion of Level 2 ADAS, similar to the safety features found in the Thar Roxx.
Depending on the variant, features such as ventilated front seats and automatic climate control may also be offered. Ventilated seats enhance comfort in hot weather, while automatic climate control improves the cabin experience during long journeys. Other potential features include auto-folding ORVMs, a wireless charging pad, keyless entry, push-button start, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
Engine Options
The 2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift will retain the existing engine options. It features a 1.5-litre diesel engine that generates 117 hp of power and 300 Nm of torque. This engine comes with a rear-wheel-drive setup and is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Additionally, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is also available. With the manual transmission, it delivers 150 hp and 300 Nm, while the automatic version increases torque to 320 Nm. Both RWD and 4WD options are available with this engine.
