LPG Rules Update: This announcement holds significant importance for the large number of LPG users. Gas suppliers have introduced crucial directives concerning the transfer of LPG connections, booking refills, and transitioning to Piped Natural Gas (PNG). Whether you are changing residences, relocating to a different city, or considering a switch to a PNG connection, it is crucial to acquaint yourself with these updated regulations.
It is recommended by officials to securely store all paperwork and receipts received during the process of transferring gas connections or shifting to PNG to prevent any potential issues in the future. Experts are of the opinion that adherence to these guidelines by local gas agencies will result in improved and more convenient services for consumers. They stress the importance of LPG cylinder users being informed about the new protocols related to connection transfers, refill bookings, and conversion to piped natural gas (PNG).
1. Notify the gas agency before moving house
If you are planning to move, inform your gas provider (be it Indane, HP Gas, or Bharat Gas) first. You will have to request a connection transfer and may be required to furnish documents like an identification card, proof of your new address, your gas booklet/consumer card, and the original connection receipt.
2. Moving within the same vicinity streamlines the process
If your new address is within the same distributor’s service area, the procedure becomes much simpler. In such cases, the gas agency will update your address, ensuring a seamless continuation of gas cylinder deliveries. The agency updates the customer’s details upon visiting the office, guaranteeing uninterrupted LPG cylinder deliveries.
3. TTV needed for relocating to a different area
When relocating to an area serviced by a different gas agency, obtaining a Transfer Termination Voucher (TTV) from the existing agency is mandatory. This document, along with other essential paperwork, must be submitted to the distributor in the new locality to finalize the transfer.
4. Guidelines for shifting to a new city
For individuals moving to a new city, returning the LPG cylinder and regulator to the current gas agency is necessary. Following this return, the agency will issue a termination voucher and refund the security deposit. The new agency in the new city will then provide a new connection after verifying the documents.
5. Upon transfer, a new consumer number will be assigned
The new gas supplier will convert the TTV into a Transfer Subscription Voucher (TSV) and allocate a new consumer number. This will enable you to book LPG cylinder refills at the new address.
6. Steps to take before opting for a PNG connection
More than 1.34 million new PNG connections have been issued nationwide in the last six months, constituting only 20% of the government’s target of 6 million new PNG connections set earlier this year to bolster domestic energy distribution. If you are considering transitioning from LPG to PNG, it is recommended to consult your local gas agency for the requisite paperwork and procedures.
Customer Advisory
Authorities advise customers planning to switch from LPG to PNG to first seek information from their local gas distributor regarding all terms and conditions and the necessary documents. They also recommend safeguarding all documents and vouchers related to the transfer to ensure a smooth transition. Industry specialists highlight that while reduced prices for commercial LPG cylinders may offer some relief, the effective implementation of these regulations by local distributors will be crucial to ensure hassle-free service for customers.
