LPG e-KYC Deadline: Relief for LPG consumers, the deadline for e-KYC has been extended to August 23. Learn about OTP delivery and new booking guidelines. The deadline for e-KYC was previously August 16, but has now been extended to August 23. This decision was made due to technical glitches and long queues experienced with the app.
Why was there a problem?
Since the entire process was digital, the server was running slow and the mobile app was not working properly, which increased the crowd at the agencies. Oil companies are updating data to prevent black marketing. Customers can also update their new mobile number during KYC to avoid booking issues. Cylinder delivery is now OTP-based. Under the new rules, bookings will be made within 25 days in cities and 45 days in rural areas.
Major decision on LPG production in India
Amid global uncertainties, the Petroleum Ministry has given a target to 21 refinery companies to produce 63,810 tonnes of LPG per day, which is equal to 70% of the country’s daily consumption.
You can easily complete LPG e-KYC by installing the gas company’s app on your smartphone. Also download the Aadhaar FaceRD app on your phone. This app will perform facial verification. After installing the gas company’s official app on your phone:
Log in to the app using the number linked to the LPG connection in the app.
Now go to the profile section in the menu of the gas company’s app and click on e-KYC/Re-KYC.
The app will then open the camera. Position your face in the right light and blink.
Once verified, enter the OTP and submit the form. Your e-KYC process will be completed.
After this, you will be able to book gas refill in future also and receive cylinder delivery
The biggest question is: will your gas connection be cut if you don’t complete your e-KYC by August 23rd? This isn’t the case. If your e-KYC isn’t complete, you won’t be able to get your cylinder at the domestic rate. This means that those without KYC will find the gas cylinder more expensive.
