JSW Combat SUV: A new name is set to enter the Indian SUV market. JSW Motors is preparing to launch its first SUV, the JSW Combat. It is expected to feature a bold, boxy design, premium features, and plug-in hybrid technology. The SUV is already generating buzz thanks to its robust design and hybrid powertrain, which will combine a petrol engine with electric motors and a battery pack. Let’s take a closer look at the details.
JSW Combat Launch Timeline and Price
JSW Motors is likely to launch its first SUV in India during this year’s festive season. However, the company has not yet announced the official launch date or final pricing. Based on current information, the ex-showroom price is expected to range between ₹30 lakh and ₹50 lakh.
Bold Design
The JSW Combat is expected to feature a boxy and rugged design. Since it is based on the Jetour T2, its overall silhouette will likely resemble that SUV; however, JSW Motors may tweak the front and rear styling to establish a unique brand identity.
The front could feature square LED headlamps, a large grille, and a chunky bumper. Thick body cladding will further enhance its rugged appeal. The side profile may include elements like large 20-inch alloy wheels and roof rails, giving the SUV a commanding road presence. At the rear, it might sport vertical LED tail lamps and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
Premium Cabin
The cabin is expected to be highly premium. It may feature a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system alongside a 10.6-inch digital driver display; these large screens would give the dashboard a modern look.
Drawing on the features of the global-spec Jetour T2, the Combat is expected to offer a 12-speaker sound system, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It may also come with a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and adaptive cruise control.
Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain
The JSW Combat is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid engine. Based on the global-spec Jetour T2, it may come equipped with a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine paired with two electric motors and an 18.4kWh battery pack.
This hybrid setup can deliver a combined power output of about 360hp and 610Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a dedicated 3-speed hybrid gearbox; in India, the Combat is expected to be offered exclusively with a front-wheel-drive configuration.
Range
The plug-in hybrid setup, featuring an 18.4kWh battery, offers an estimated NEDC electric-only range of around 90km. With the petrol engine’s assistance, the total driving range extends to about 1,200km. Charging takes about 3 hours to charge the battery from 30% to 100% using a 6.6kW AC charger, while a 50kW DC fast charger can charge it from 30% to 80% in about 27 minutes.
