Indian Railways Introduces SwaRail: Now no Need to Use IRCTC App

SwaRail Super App: Indian Railways is going to transform train travel through the new super app, SwaRail, to consolidate all the railway services onto a single platform.

SwaRail Super App Overview

Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), SwaRail is an initiative which intends to integrate multiple railway services so that passengers do not have to use several apps. In beta test mode now, the app has already been launched on the Google Play Store.

Key Features of SwaRail

SwaRail provides a whole range of services to enrich the travel experience of passengers:

Integration with Current Services

SwaRail consolidates elements of existing platforms like IRCTC’s RailConnect and UTS on Mobile into a single user interface. The users can choose from reserved, unreserved, or platform ticket bookings from the home page of the application when it is opened.

Beta Testing Phase

The application is still in the beta test phase and listed in the Google Play Store. Feedback is welcomed from users to streamline the application prior to its launch.

Expected Impact of Railway Service

Through consolidation of various services on a single platform, SwaRail is likely to make rail transport convenient and more efficient. The project is consistent with global trends where super apps consolidate different services in order to give an all-around experience.

Similar Projects within the Industry

The super app concept is gaining momentum globally. For instance, Elon Musk’s dream for the X app is to include messaging, social media, payment handling, and news on a single application. SwaRail’s own design is following the same path in the rail industry by attempting to deliver an end-to-end solution for passenger requirements.
