WWE: This Former Superstar Wanted to Win World Championship to Honor a Hall of Famer

Former WWE star Baron Corbin recently confirmed his departure from the company on November 1 after his contract expired. Known for his stint as United States Champion, Corbin took to social media to share the news with fans, officially ending his WWE tenure.

Kurt Angle Expresses Disappointment with WWE’s Handling of Corbin

Following Corbin’s exit, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, who wrestled Corbin in his retirement match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, voiced his disappointment. Angle expressed that WWE missed an opportunity to elevate Corbin’s career through their match, remarking that Corbin remained “undervalued” throughout his time with the company.

Corbin Wanted to Win World Championship to Honor Angle

In response to Angle’s comments, Corbin shared his feelings of regret on social media. He expressed that his desire to win the World Championship was, in part, to honour Angle’s influence on his career. Corbin tweeted:

“Honestly, the main reason I wanted to become World Champion was to honour what Kurt did for me. I’ll always appreciate it and wish I could have done more to make it meaningful for him.”

A Brief Look at Corbin’s WWE Achievements

During his WWE career, Corbin achieved several milestones, including winning the King of the Ring title in 2019 and a 56-day NXT Tag Team Championship reign with Bron Breakker earlier this year. Despite these accomplishments, Corbin’s departure leaves his ambition of becoming a World Champion unfulfilled.
