From North India to the northeastern states and even the southern regions, conditions have deteriorated due to rain and hailstorms. Intermittent spells of rain are still being observed in numerous areas.
Now, a report regarding the potential impact of the El Niño phenomenon on this year’s monsoon has come as a shock. Meanwhile, pre-monsoon weather patterns are expected to manifest across the country. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an alert for rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued, valid until April 17, 2026. Weather Forecast for Kerala
According to the IMD, there is a possibility that weather conditions in Kerala will deteriorate once again. As per the IMD, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning may be witnessed in Kerala on April 15, 16, and 17. During this period, alerts have also been issued for strong winds, lightning strikes, and thunderstorms in several locations across the state.
Weather Forecast for Karnataka
According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions in Karnataka appear to be taking a significant turn for the worse. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Karnataka on April 15, 16, and 17. During this period, strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms are expected in several areas.
Possibility of Rain with Thunder and Lightning in Several States
According to the IMD, an alert for rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana for April 15, 16, and 17. In addition to these states, the possibility of storms and rain has been forecast for several parts of Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Sikkim, and Tamil Nadu.
Rainfall is also likely in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mahe, Puducherry, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Karaikal, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, and Nagaland. During this period, there is a possibility of strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms across several districts, with a chance of hailstorms in some areas.
