Weather Disrupted by Western Disturbance
According to the Meteorological Department, the sudden activation of a Western Disturbance in several states of North India has changed the weather patterns, leading to rainfall. It appears to be affecting Northwest India. According to the IMD, this disturbance has originated in the Himalayan region and has reached the plains.
A rain warning has been issued for Punjab, including Delhi NCR. An alert for rain and thunderstorms has also been issued for Haryana, Chandigarh, and Western Uttar Pradesh. Strong winds and gusts are expected. People have been advised to take precautions due to the possibility of lightning strikes.
Rain Warning for Delhi
Delhi is still experiencing rain with hailstorms. The IMD has issued a further alert for light to moderate rain in several places in Delhi. Hailstorms are also expected. According to the Meteorological Department, winds are expected to reach speeds of 40-50kilometress per hour.
The IMD has issued a snowfall warning for neighbouring states like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. Rain warnings have also been issued for areas such as Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Mundka, and Jafarpur in Delhi. Heavy rainfall here could lead to waterlogging problems.
According to the IMD (India Meteorological Department), a cold wave is also expected to intensify. Cold wave conditions are likely to persist in several areas. The maximum temperature is expected to remain below 16 degrees Celsius.
