IIT GATE 2027: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has released the schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. This is good news for candidates preparing for the IIT GATE 2027 exam. Online registration can be completed via the official website. According to the official notification, the application window for GATE 2027 will open on August 27. Candidates can register without a late fee until September 27, 2026. Additionally, candidates may apply with a late fee until October 5.
Who can apply?
Candidates currently studying in the third year or higher of an undergraduate degree program are eligible to apply for the GATE exam. The course of study must be in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.
When will the GATE 2027 exam be held?
IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2027 in February. The exam will take place on February 6 and 7 (first week), February 13 and 14 (second week), and February 20 and 21 (third week). The exam will be conducted in two shifts: the first from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the second from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The exam city slip will be released on January 4, 2027.
Exam Pattern
The GATE exam will include questions on General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and subject-specific topics. The exam duration is 3 hours, comprising questions totalling 100 marks. Negative marking applies for incorrect answers: 1/3 mark will be deducted for one-mark questions, and 2/3 mark will be deducted for two-mark questions.
