Gold Price Decline: Gold and silver prices have been witnessing a consistent downward trend for some time now. Following a decline the previous day, both domestic and international markets saw another significant drop on Friday, the final trading day of the week. This comes as particularly welcome news for those planning to purchase gold and silver for the upcoming festive season—including Karwa Chauth, Dhanteras, and Diwali—as well as the wedding season.
In the domestic market, the prices of both gold and silver fell on October 23, 2026. The price of 24-carat gold has dropped to ₹141,448 per 10 grams, while the price of silver has fallen to ₹195,027 per kilogram. Gold remains under pressure in the international market as well. The India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) has released the latest rates for gold and silver. Let’s take a look at the current prices for 24, 22, 18, and 14-carat gold.
Why are gold and silver prices falling?
In the international market, gold dropped to a more than two-week low late Thursday night. Concerns have been raised regarding rising inflation, driven by an increase in crude oil prices. Spot gold fell by 2.2% to $4,051.55 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures for December delivery recorded a decline of 2%.
