FASTag Update: NHAI Launches New Facility at 121 Toll Plazas, Check Now

FASTag Toll Pass: Good news for vehicle owners. Especially if you are FASTag user, then todays article is made for you. If you frequently pass through a toll plaza nearby, this information is quite beneficial. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a digital local pass service at 121 toll plazas nationwide. A key advantage of this service is that eligible vehicle owners no longer have to visit the toll plaza repeatedly to obtain a local pass, as it is now accessible online.

Who can benefit from the FASTag local pass?

The FASTag local pass is especially advantageous for vehicle owners residing within a 20-kilometer radius of the toll plaza they use regularly. Previously, these individuals encountered challenges with repeated toll charges or the hassle of acquiring separate passes. Now, eligible individuals can conveniently apply for a local pass from home through an online process.

Where did this service begin?

The Digital Local Pass service was initially launched in July 2026 at the Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza on Delhi’s Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). After its successful implementation there, it has been expanded to 121 toll plazas across the country. However, this feature is not yet available at every toll plaza, so not all residents will have access to it.

How can you obtain a FASTag local pass from home?

First, download the Highway Travel App.

Once logged into your account, choose the FASTag Local Pass option.

Next, select the toll plaza for which you need the pass.

Fill in the required information as prompted.

Then, complete the digital verification process.

After successful verification, the local pass will be linked to your FASTag account.

What are the advantages of having a local pass?

Once you have the pass, eligible vehicle drivers will be able to create a digital local pass for the respective toll plaza.

Once the pass is activated, you can travel through that toll plaza multiple times within a month.

With this, there will be no need to go to the toll plaza for application.

Online application and digital verification will save both time and effort of vehicle owners.

Since the pass is linked to the FASTag account, regular commuting will be easier for local people.

How was the local pass made earlier?

Previously, vehicle owners had to physically visit the respective toll plaza to obtain a local pass. They had to document their residency within a 20-kilometer radius of the toll plaza. Now, with the launch of digital services at 121 toll plazas, eligible individuals have the ability to complete this process online. The biggest benefit is that vehicle owners can now apply from the comfort of their homes.
