EPFO Update- Today Is the Last Date to File ECR, Or Pay a Penalty

EPFO Update: Major news is here for EPFO members. If you are employed, a portion of your salary is deducted for PF every month, and this money becomes accessible to you after your retirement. Employers are required to file ECR every month to ensure that employees’ PF contributions are deposited into the correct account at the right time.

If you are working and have PF deductions but are unsure whether ECR has been filed, it is crucial for you to be informed. The deadline for filing ECR related to July’s salary and depositing PF contributions is today.

File ECR today

Employers associated with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) must complete the process of filing ECR and depositing PF contributions by today, which is the last date of August 15. Therefore, employers need to complete this process today to avoid any potential issues due to delays.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has fixed the interest rate on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) deposits at 8.25% per annum for the financial year 2025-26. At this rate, a PF balance of Rs 1 lakh can earn an interest of approximately Rs 8,250 per year. However, the actual interest earned depends on the monthly balance and the contributions made during the year.

EPF interest for the financial year 2025-26 was credited to your account last month. At an annual interest rate of 8.25%, the monthly interest rate works out to approximately 0.688%. EPF interest is calculated based on the monthly closing balance. Therefore, the interest amount may vary depending on the balance in the account and the monthly contribution.
