EPFO- PF Money in 3 Days, Auto Settlement Limit Hiked to Rs 5 Lakh

EPFO: Good news for EPFO members. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization has introduced a new system to simplify provident fund withdrawals for subscribers. This significant change by EPFO will ensure that PF settlements are processed within three days, a substantial improvement from the previous timeline.

This modification aims to save time for millions of subscribers during the PF settlement process, making it more efficient and transparent. Employees have long been advocating for quicker PF settlements, and EPFO has responded by streamlining the withdrawal process and encouraging automation.

Under the new three-day settlement rule for PF, subscribers will experience faster access to their funds, eliminating the prolonged waiting period. To enforce this, a 12 percent penalty will be imposed on officials causing unjustified delays in approval exceeding 20 days. EPFO plans to further enhance the system, although cases needing additional verification might experience delays.

EPFO is actively promoting digital verification and has raised the auto-settlement limit from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Subscribers can now benefit from quicker processing of larger advance withdrawals through auto-settlement, aiming to reduce paperwork, decrease claim rejections, and enhance user experience. Subscribers meeting specific requirements such as an active Universal Account Number linked to Aadhaar and updated bank account details will experience expedited fund transfers.

Key points to consider when claiming PF:

1. Ensure the Universal Account Number is active.
2. Link UAN to Aadhaar.
3. Update PAN and bank account details.
4. Complete the KYC process.
5. Keep the registered mobile number active for OTP verification.

By following these steps, subscribers can expedite the payment settlement process.

Members and employers are requested to exercise patience, as processing of claims and certain services may take slightly longer than usual during this period. Members are also requested to avoid repeatedly using online services or making repeated requests during busy times. EPFO appreciates the patience and cooperation of all its members and remains committed to providing services to all its members.

What updates have been made?

EPFO has only stated that all software has been upgraded. However, it has not provided details about what new features have been introduced or how easy claims and other processes will be now. It has only stated that maintenance work and software upgrades have been carried out.

The EPFO website was down for a week

The EPFO said the service was down for seven days because it was upgrading critical data and software to provide better services to its members. It is worth noting that initially, the EPFO had said that the maintenance period would end on June 28 and services would resume on June 29. It later revised the deadline and extended it to 11:59 pm on July 1, and finally announced that services would resume on July 3, 2026, but these services have been restored this afternoon.
