EPFO Passbook Portal Relaunched Before July 15, Check the Balance Like This

EPFO Passbook Portal: Big news for EPFO Members. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization has brought relief to its millions of subscribers by reopening its EPFO Passbook Portal after a two-week maintenance period. Account holders can now access their account statements effortlessly.

The portal had been down since the last week of June for system upgrades and maintenance. With the re-launch, EPFO has introduced a significant update regarding UAN activation, which is important for all employees to be aware of. Here are the key points simplified:

1. Interest Rate Update:

– The EPFO will credit accounts with an 8.25% annual interest rate for the financial year 2025-26 starting from July 15. It is essential for PF members to check if the interest has been credited to their accounts.

Recent financial year transactions and balances are now visible on the portal. Older data is being transferred and will be accessible in a few days automatically.

2. UAN Activation Change

The EPFO has discontinued web-based UAN activation via the Unified Member Portal after a system upgrade. Users are now informed that UAN activation through the website is no longer possible.

3. New UAN Activation Process

– UAN activation is now completely digital and mobile-based for enhanced security.

– Employees must use the UMANG app on their mobile devices for UAN activation.

– Face Authentication Technology (FAT) using Aadhaar-based face recognition is now mandatory for UAN activation through the UMANG app.

4. Technological Upgrade

– The EPFO has introduced its upgraded ‘Unified Member Portal’ in phases starting from July 3 to enhance security, address system issues, and improve the digital experience for users.

– While transaction history for previous years may take a few days to display, the live portal enables subscribers to easily track their contribution history and interest.

Service record will be transferred

Now, if an employee’s UAN is linked to Aadhaar, their PF balance and service record will automatically be transferred to the new account upon changing jobs. This eliminates the need for employees to apply separately on the EPFO website.

UAN does not change

The UAN is a 12-digit unique number linked to all of an employee’s EPF accounts. The UAN number does not change even when a job is changed and remains the same. According to the EPFO, linking old PF accounts is beneficial. This ensures that the employee’s entire service period’s funds are stored in one place. Interest is also accrued on the entire amount, resulting in higher interest. Your total balance is displayed simultaneously, and the process of advance and final settlement becomes easier.
