JEE Mains Result 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) had originally announced the JEE Main results for the January session on February 12th. However, they will now be released on February 16th. The JEE Main final answer key is usually released before or along with the results. The NTA will make the JEE Main 2026 results and cut-offs available on its official websites—nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates who appeared for the exam are awaiting their scores and answer keys. The objection window for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 provisional answer key was closed.

On the night of February 11th, the National Testing Agency issued a notification on the social media platform X stating that the results will now be announced on February 16th, 2026. This delay is being made in the best interests of students. The agency has clarified that every objection is being thoroughly investigated to ensure that no student is discriminated against.

Over 1.3 million students took the exam

1,363,900 students applied for the first session of JEE Main in 2026. Of these, over 1.3 million appeared for the exam. Strict security and surveillance measures were in place during the exam.

In addition to the overall NTA percentile, the scorecard will also include subject-wise percentile scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. This detailed breakdown helps students analyse their academic performance in core subjects.

In the general category, qualifying for JEE Advanced is expected with 90-100 marks. Only the top 2.5 lakh students will be able to advance. Meanwhile, the application process for Session 2 has also begun. Candidates can apply for Session 2 through the official website, ntaresults.nic.in.

How is the percentile calculated?

To calculate the raw score, each question is worth 4 marks, and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. For example, Physics 70 + Chemistry 60 + Math 40 = 170/300. However, it’s important to note that JEE Main rank isn’t determined directly from the raw score. The calculation is done using the number of students scoring equal to or less than you / total students × 100. If you have an 80th percentile, it means you scored more than 80% of the students in your shift. This doesn’t mean you scored 80.

How is rank determined in JEE Main?
The All India Rank in JEE Main is determined based on the percentile score. The NTA considers the percentiles for both attempts, and the higher percentile is considered final. To calculate your rank, calculate (100 – percentile) / 100 × total candidates.
