Diet Coke Price Hike: Big blow for coke lover. Fans of Diet Coke may need to spend more on their favorite beverage now as some Coca-Cola bottlers and local retailers in cities such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Goa have hiked the prices of Diet Coke due to ongoing supply shortages and a 30% yearly rise in the cost of aluminum utilized in can production. The 330 ml can now costs Rs 70, up from Rs 50, marking an all-time high, despite the printed price of Rs 50 on cans produced in Coca-Cola’s facilities.
Diet Coke Price Hike
In addition to the recent increase, the price was also elevated in July. An independent Coca-Cola bottler confirmed the new price of Rs 70 for a 330 ml can of Diet Coke, attributing the rise to the unsustainable cost increase of aluminum cans. The shortage of aluminum cans earlier this year due to conflicts in West Asia led to a surge in prices, impacting India’s popular sugar-free drink.
Big Blow For Customers
Earlier this year, the company introduced larger 330 ml cans of Diet Coke priced at Rs 50, up from the 300 ml can priced at Rs 40. A Coca-Cola representative mentioned that as per Indian regulations, they advise their trade partners to adhere to the printed MRP on the packaging. They highlighted that Diet Coke is available at various price points in the market to cater to different customer preferences and occasions.
Despite the price hike, a 330 ml can of Diet Coke is still available for Rs 50 on fast delivery platforms like BlinkIt and Zepto. Nonetheless, consumers have reported being charged Rs 70 for the same can in brick-and-mortar stores and supermarkets, sparking discussions on social media platforms like Instagram and X.
