Cyclone Murasu Update: Andhra Pradesh Coast on Alert as Winds Reach 120 km/h, Check the Guidelines

Cyclone Murasu: Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu is approaching the south Andhra Pradesh coast, bringing the possibility of strong winds, heavy rainfall, and hazardous weather conditions. The storm is expected to bring wind speeds of 100–110 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 120 km/h. Residents in potentially affected areas are advised to remain alert, prepare in advance, and follow all official safety instructions.

Stay Prepared Before the Storm

Residents should take necessary precautions before the cyclone makes landfall. Secure loose objects around homes, keep emergency supplies such as drinking water, food, medicines, flashlights, and batteries ready, and charge mobile phones and power banks. People living in vulnerable areas should be prepared to move to designated cyclone shelters if instructed by local authorities.

Follow Safety Precautions During and After the Cyclone

During the storm, stay indoors and away from windows, doors, and exposed areas. Avoid travelling unnecessarily, especially near coastal areas, flooded roads, and locations with strong winds. Do not venture into the sea or attempt to cross flooded roads. After the cyclone passes, continue following official advisories. Stay away from fallen electric wires, damaged buildings, and flooded areas. Do not return to evacuated locations until authorities confirm that it is safe.

Follow Official Weather Advisories

The safety of residents remains the top priority. People in potentially affected areas should regularly monitor weather updates issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and follow instructions from local authorities and disaster management teams.
