Ration Card Update – Here’s How to File a Complaint via WhatsApp, Phone or Home

Complaint Against Ration Dealer: If you are a ration cardholder and are not receiving your full quota of rations from a government-authorised ration shop, or if the ration dealer (quota holder) is being uncooperative, or if you are facing any other issues related to your ration card, you can file a complaint.

You do not need to visit government offices repeatedly for this purpose; you have the option to register your complaint via phone, WhatsApp, or an online portal. Let’s look in detail at where and how you can file a complaint if you encounter any issues related to your ration card or the Public Distribution System (PDS).

How to file a complaint via WhatsApp?
If you wish to file a complaint regarding your ration card using your mobile phone, you can use the designated WhatsApp number. The Department of Food and Public Distribution has provided the WhatsApp number 98682 00445 for this purpose. Ration cardholders can use this number to register their complaints.

Simply send the word “Namaste” to this number and follow the instructions provided. You will then need to describe your issue and provide the requested information. If the system asks for photos or other supporting evidence, please share them as per the instructions.

How to file a complaint via phone?
If you are using an Android phone but are experiencing internet connectivity issues, you can seek assistance via telephone. You can call 1457, which is the number for the ‘Anna Sahayata’ (Food Assistance) IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System). Additionally, you can call 1967 for help regarding ration-related matters and the Public Distribution System. You may also reach out by calling 1800-180-2084.

Get help via the ‘Mera Ration’ app
The ‘Mera Ration’ app can be quite useful for services related to ration cards and the distribution of rations. To use it, download the official ‘Mera Ration’ app onto your mobile device. Explore the features available within the app; it includes an option to register complaints. Ensure you follow the app’s guidelines. You can file a complaint through this app; however, if necessary, you may also contact your state’s Food Department.

File a complaint online via the CPGRAMS portal.
If you encounter any difficulties in filing a complaint offline, you can do so online. For this purpose, you can use the Central Government’s grievance redressal portal, CPGRAMS, by visiting its official website at https://pgportal.gov.in/.
To file a complaint, visit the portal and follow the provided instructions. Please describe your issue clearly and attach any necessary documents. Once the complaint is submitted, keep the registration number safe; it will help you track the status of your complaint.
