CNG PNG Price Hike: After LPG, There id another major shock is waiting for everyone. The month of September has brought a surprising rise in inflation for everyday people. While petrol and diesel prices remain high, the beginning of the month saw an increase of Rs 9.50 in the cost of a commercial gas cylinder. Additionally, the prices of CNG and PNG have also gone up. Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) in Mumbai has raised the prices of CNG and PNG, attributing this to supply chain disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia. The increase for CNG and PNG ranges from Rs 1 to 2.
So, how much CNG and PNG can you get for your money now? CNG prices in Mumbai have risen by Rs 2 per kg, while domestic PNG prices have gone up by Rs 1. These new prices came into effect on September 1, making the current price of CNG in Mumbai and its surrounding areas Rs 88 per kg.
Domestic PNG prices have also seen an increase. Due to escalating costs, the price of DPNG (domestic PNG) has been raised by Rs 1, effective from 12:00 AM on December 31st.
With the rising cost of gas, consumers are feeling the pinch. The company has indicated that global natural gas prices have surged, leading to increased procurement costs. As a result, CNG and PNG prices have been adjusted accordingly. Reports suggest that the pressure on the supply chain and international gas prices have risen significantly over the last four to five months.
To satisfy the increasing demand, the company is compelled to acquire more gas through the ‘spot RLNG’ method. MGL has expressed its commitment to providing customers with affordable and eco-friendly energy solutions and will strive to offer relief by lowering costs.MGAL said the latest revision will partially offset the increased input gas costs and help ensure a consistent and sustainable supply of natural gas to customers. The hike will affect around 12.93 lakh vehicles in MMR, including auto rickshaws, taxis, private vehicles and vehicles operated by transport authorities, which run on CNG supplied by MGL.
Prices had also increased in May
In May, MGL had raised the price of CNG to Rs 86 per kg and PNG to Rs 52 per scm, citing lower allocation of domestic gas and increase in gas procurement cost due to devaluation of Indian rupee against the US dollar.
