Delhi News: Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta is taking significant steps to improve healthcare for the general public. In this regard, CM Rekha Gupta has made a major announcement, aimed at ensuring that every individual can easily access healthcare services—equipped with modern facilities—at a minimal cost. To achieve these goals, the government has launched several new schemes and is simultaneously enhancing existing healthcare services.
Ayushman Bharat Scheme
The Ayushman Bharat scheme is designed to provide financial assistance for medical treatment to economically disadvantaged families. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh. Furthermore, the government includes individuals aged 70 and above in the eligibility category and provides them with free medical treatment.
Ayushman Arogya Mandir
To ensure that residents of Delhi have access to quality healthcare close to their homes, ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandirs’ are being established. These centers offer free health check-ups, medicines, and consultations with doctors. There are currently over 415 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs operating in Delhi, with 81 new centers recently added. These facilities make it easier for the general public to seek treatment for minor illnesses.
Newborn Health Screening via ‘ANMOL’
The government has also launched the ‘ANMOL’ initiative to address serious health conditions in newborns. Through this initiative, a single blood sample is used to screen for 56 different genetic and metabolic disorders—all free of cost. The primary objective is to identify these conditions early, enabling timely treatment. This ensures that children receive prompt medical care, paving the way for a healthier future.
Cashless Treatment Facility
Additionally, the Delhi government is promoting the availability of cashless medical treatment at empanelled hospitals. Under this, eligible individuals can, in accordance with established rules, access emergency care, minor medical treatment, and medical examinations without the need for immediate payment. This helps to reduce the burden on patients and their families at the time of receiving medical treatment.
