New Delhi: Central government employees and pensioners are about to hit the jackpot, as they are set to witness a bumper increase in their salaries. If there is a central government employee in your family, then rest assured—there is no need to worry. The commission constituted by the government is currently in the process of conducting a review. All eyes are now fixed on when this review report will be implemented.
Once the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, a substantial hike in salaries is expected. This will result in a massive surge in the basic salary—an opportunity akin to a golden windfall. Based on calculations, and depending on various fitment factors, employees could receive not only an increased salary but also arrears amounting to lakhs of rupees.
All Eyes on the Fitment Factor
Did you know that the 8th Pay Commission has initiated the process of soliciting suggestions from employees, pensioners, and various unions? The fitment factor plays the most pivotal role within the 8th Pay Commission framework. It is the fitment factor that ultimately determines the extent of the increase in your basic salary. In this regard, various unions have proposed fitment factors ranging from 2.0, 2.15, and 2.28, up to 2.57.
Furthermore, various organisations are demanding that this factor be raised to a range of 3.0 to 3.25, with the aim of effectively boosting the employees’ take-home (in-hand) salaries. Meanwhile, employee unions such as the FNPO and AIDEF have specifically demanded that the fitment factor be fixed somewhere between 3.0 and 3.25. Additionally, there is a demand that—when determining salary structures—the cost of living for a family of five members, rather than just three, should be used as the foundational basis for calculation. What Will Be the Current Salary for Employees in Levels 1 to 8?
For your information, according to the Pay Matrix of the 7th Pay Commission, the basic salary for employees ranging from Level 1 to Level 8 is less than ₹50,000. As per the 7th Pay Commission, the basic salary for employees in Levels 1 through 8 falls within the range of ₹18,000 to ₹47,600.
Find Out When the 8th Pay Commission Is Likely to Be Implemented.
Now, all eyes are fixed on the question of when the 8th Pay Commission will be implemented. The Central Government is considering implementing the 8th Pay Commission sometime after mid-2027. Once implemented, salaries are expected to take a massive leap forward.
