ITR Refund Status – After filing their income tax return (ITR), the thing taxpayers most look forward to is their refund. Many people receive this amount quickly, but sometimes it gets stuck. This leaves people perplexed as to why their money hasn’t arrived. The Income Tax Department itself has stated that if your refund hasn’t arrived, you can submit a request for reissue. This facility is available online and requires no physical contact.

What to do if the refund fails?

Sometimes, refunds fail due to no fault of the taxpayer. In such cases, you should first check the refund status on the e-filing portal. If it shows that the refund has failed, you can submit a reissue request.

Complete Process of Refund Reissue Request

  • First of all login to the e-filing portal.
  • Go to Services and select Refund Reissue.
  • There click on Create Refund Reissue Request.
  • Now select the record for which you want to place a request.
  • Select the bank account to which you want the refund.
  • If the account is not validated then validate it first.
  • Click on Proceed to Verification.
  • Now do e-verification through Aadhaar OTP, EVC or DSC.
  • Click on Continue and your request will be submitted.

How many days do you get the refund?

According to the Income Tax Department’s website, refunds typically take 4-5 weeks to process. However, this requires that you not only file your ITR but also e-verify it. Without e-verification, a refund will not be issued.
