Along with this, a district-wise quota for ration cards will be fixed, which will be based on the population of that district. These new rules will be implemented after the upcoming census.
However, the government has also clarified that some categories of people will not be eligible for ration cards. Those who own property or land in categories A to E, those who pay income tax, those who own private four-wheelers or commercial vehicles, those with an electricity connection of more than 2 kilowatts, or those in government service will not be considered eligible for ration cards.
