UPI Payment- Good news for UPI users. Nowadays it is the digital era. In this fast paced life, the method of payment has also changed. Now there is no need to wait for the cheque. You can make payment in the blink of an eye just by clicking. Actually, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has changed the payment methods of Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Earlier this payment used to happen in 30 seconds. Now it will happen in half the time. That is, the payment will be done within 10-15 seconds. Now you will not have to wait much. This change in the new rules has come into effect from 16 June 2025.
Let us tell you that last month NPCI had asked banks and payment apps to upgrade their systems so that payment can be done in just 15 seconds. These rules have come into effect from today. NPCI has changed some technical things which are related to API i.e. Application Programming Interface. In simple language, these are the software systems that transfer your payment from one bank to another.
The National Payments Corporation of India said on April 26, 2025 that they are trying to reduce the response time of UPI transactions to improve performance. The official press release said that these changes will be beneficial for banks, service providers PhonePe, Google Play and Paytm etc. The response time has been reduced by more than half.
The response time for checking the status of Request Pay and Response transactions and for transaction reversal i.e. cancelling or withdrawing the transaction has been reduced from 30-30 to 10-10 seconds. The response time for a valid address has been reduced from 15 to 10 seconds. This means that now it will take only 10 seconds to make a payment.
How many times can you check the balance in a day?
NPCI said that the change in process time is aimed at improving customer experience. According to another circular of NPCI, customers will soon be able to check their account balance a maximum of 50 times a day through their UPI app. However, according to an expert, there is no limit on checking bank account balance in a day yet and the limit of 50 has been introduced keeping in mind the systemic efficiency.
Why did NPCI make changes in UPI transactions?
Let us tell you that UPI is now used by everyone from small shops to online shopping, but many times people get upset due to delay in payment or time taken in checking the status. NPCI wants users to get a better experience. Also, complaints of transaction failure should also be reduced.
