RBI MPC Meeting February 2026: The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee announced the results of its meeting on Friday, February 6, 2026. The RBI Governor announced that it has decided to maintain the repo rate at 5.25 percent.
The overall 1.25 percent repo rate cut over the past year has led to cheaper loans and also led to a slight decrease in interest rates on fixed deposits. However, some public sector banks, such as UCO Bank, are still offering customers attractive interest rates compared to the market on their special schemes.
UCO Bank’s Special FD Rates

UCO Bank currently offers its customers interest rates ranging from 2.90 percent to 7.95 percent on FDs of various tenors. The bank’s most popular scheme is its 444-day special FD. Under this scheme, general customers are offered an interest rate of 6.45 percent, and senior citizens are offered an interest rate of 6.95 percent.
Specifically, existing bank staff are receiving a high interest rate of 7.45 percent, and retired senior citizens are receiving a high interest rate of 7.95 percent, making them an excellent investment option.
Guaranteed Returns on ₹1 Lakh
If you’re looking to invest for a long-term period of 5 years, UCO Bank’s schemes help you build a solid fund for the future. A typical citizen depositing ₹1 lakh in a 5-year FD at 6.00 percent will receive a total of ₹1,34,686 upon maturity, with ₹34,686 solely in interest.
However, this benefit is even greater for senior citizens. With an interest rate of 6.50 percent, senior citizens will receive a total of ₹1,38,042 after 5 years on an investment of ₹1 lakh, including ₹38,042 in net interest.
Safe Investment and Fixed Income

The biggest advantage of fixed deposits is that they don’t involve any risk like the stock market. After the completion of a fixed period, you receive your principal and the fixed interest without any “ifs and buts.”
Following the RBI’s decision to maintain stability in interest rates, experts believe that booking an FD at current rates is a wise decision for those seeking a safe investment. Depositing money in a public sector bank like UCO Bank provides investors with the assurance of security as well as a good and guaranteed return.
