TA Hike– Rs 38,400 Boost! Modi Government Increases Allowance for These Employees

Transport Allowance Hike: If you work for the central government and are classified as disabled, this is fantastic news for you! The Modi government has announced that the transport allowance for disabled employees will be doubled. Instead of the current Rs. 3,200, these employees will now receive a monthly transport allowance of Rs. 6,400, which is twice the previous amount.

Who qualifies for this benefit?

This increased transport allowance will be accessible to all Central Government employees who fall under the following disability categories as defined by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016:

– Locomotor Disability – which includes individuals cured of leprosy, those with cerebral palsy, dwarfism, muscular dystrophy, and victims of acid attacks.

– Blindness and low vision

– Deafness and hearing impairment

– Speech and language disorders

– Intellectual disabilities, including specific learning disorders and autism spectrum disorders.

– Mental health issues

– Neurological conditions – such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.

– Disabilities resulting from blood disorders – like haemophilia, thalassaemia, and sickle cell disease.

– Multiple disabilities, such as deaf-blindness, which involves challenges in both seeing and hearing.

It’s important to mention that injuries related to the spinal cord (Spinal Deformity/Spinal Injury) will now also be recognized as locomotor disabilities.

Monthly direct benefit

Previously, disabled employees received the standard transport allowance. However, with the new regulations, eligible employees will now benefit from a transport allowance that is double the standard rate. If they were receiving Rs 3,200, an additional Rs 6,400 will now be directly added to their monthly salary.

Why is this decision important?

Transportation is a major challenge for employees with disabilities. The doubled allowance will now cover some of the costs of auto, taxi, or special transportation services. This is not just financial assistance, but also a sign of the government’s positive attitude toward people with disabilities. This will empower employees with disabilities to reach their workplaces independently, boosting their self-confidence.

The old conditions will remain applicable

It has been clarified that all other conditions of the old order issued on September 15, 2022, will remain the same. Only the disability category has been amended.
