How Many People’s Electricity Bills Have Become Zero?
A large number of people are benefiting from the Surya Ghar Yojana. The government has recently shared an update stating that 8.40 lakh families have received benefits under this scheme as of 27th January 2025. So far, the government has provided a subsidy of Rs 4,308.66 crore. The target is to connect 1 crore people to this scheme by 2027.
How to Apply for the Scheme?

Step 1: Visit the Official Website
- Go to the official website: https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in/
- Register yourself by providing the required details.
Step 2: Fill the Application Form
- Enter all your details in the application form.
- After submitting the form, you will receive approval from the Discom (electricity distribution company).
- Once approved, a solar panel will be installed at your home.
- After installation, apply for a net meter.
Step 3: Final Approval and Subsidy Transfer
- Once the net meter is installed, the Discom company will inspect it.
- After inspection, you will receive a certificate of approval.
- Submit your bank details (account number, IFSC code, etc.).
- Within 30 days, the subsidy amount will be transferred to your bank account.
