State Bank of India (SBI) has decided to apply new rules from this month. After knowing the new rules, consumers, who are using SBI credit card, will have to more cautious while making any transaction. With the new rules in effect, there are changes in additional changes on money transactions.

What SBI has stated?

SBI stated that a 1% fee will apply if the cardholder loads a wallet with a balance exceeding ₹1,000. This rule applies to merchant codes, which are determined by network partners and may change from time to time.

SBI has already informed customers about the new rules so they can plan their expenses appropriately. Under the old rules, there were no fees for transactions between ₹0 and ₹500, but with the new changes, the fees have become even more stringent. Additionally, SBI stated that cash withdrawal fees, check settlement fees, and late payment fees remain unchanged. However, failure to pay the minimum monthly balance for two consecutive billing cycles will incur an additional charge of ₹100 per cycle. SBI advises customers to periodically check their transaction and billing details and plan their spending according to the new rules to avoid unnecessary charges. This new fee structure has been implemented with the aim of controlling digital payments and increasing transparency of transactions.

Some new fees also

Also note that SBI Card has also implemented some new fees. Effective November 1, 2025, a 1% transaction fee will be levied on education payments made through third-party apps like CRED, Cheq, or MobiKwik. This means that students making fee payments through such platforms will incur additional charges. However, this charge will not apply if payments are made directly to the college or educational institution.

Overall, Reliance SBI cardholders will receive more reward points than before on Ajio and JioMart in October. Customers should also keep in mind the new charges that will be implemented in November. It’s important to exercise caution when using credit cards for purchases. Shopping solely for reward points can often prove costly. Therefore, always shop based on your needs and don’t ruin your budget just for points.
