The current Indian government has given special emphasis on women’s empowerment since coming to power. The Indian government has launched several projects so that women can become self-reliant. Application Eligibility:
To apply for the SSY scheme, you must be a permanent resident of India and have all the documents as identity proof. Also, there must be a girl child in your family. You have to register your name for this scheme within the first to ten years of the birth of your daughter. Later, when your daughter completes 18 years, you can enjoy the benefits of the scheme.
Investment Period:
The younger your daughter is when you can apply for the SSY scheme, the more benefits you will get. You have to invest for a minimum of 15 years through the SSY scheme. Then, you can withdraw the money when your daughter turns 18 or if your daughter passes class 10, you can withdraw the money immediately. However, under these two conditions, up to 50% of the money can be withdrawn (for higher education). The remaining money can be withdrawn completely when the girl turns 21.

Application Procedure:
If you want to register your name through the SSY scheme, you have to go to the nearest post office. You can also contact the nearest SBI, PNB, Bank of India branch to open an account. You have to contact the said branch and collect the SSY scheme application form. After collecting the form, the applicant’s name and address mentioned in it must be provided with detailed documents. After filling the application form, it must be submitted to the specified address. The applicant needs the following documents – Birth Certificate of the daughter. Aadhaar / Voter Card / PAN Card of the guardian as an identity card. Address proof, photos of the daughter and guardian must be there.
The SSY scheme of the Government of India pays interest at the rate of 8.2%, which is much higher than other government schemes. Also, there is a government tax exemption in this scheme. If you invest Rs. 1.5 lakh every year for 15 years in the SSY scheme, then in 21 years this amount will be about Rs. 69,27,578. Which is not given in any other contemporary government scheme.
