Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this scheme on January 1, 2017, which is operated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development under the Central Government. This scheme is also known as the Pradhan Mantri Pregnancy Scheme. Women receive an assistance amount of ₹6,000 to help those from economically weaker families take care of themselves and fulfill the essential needs of their child after birth.

Objective of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

This scheme was introduced to support women from economically weaker families, especially those who work as laborers. After childbirth, women become very weak.
