PM Kisan 2026: Aadhaar, DBT, Land Seeding Mandatory for 22nd Installment, Check Status

PM Kisan Update 2026: Crores of farmers across the country are eagerly awaiting the 22nd installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The 21st installment was released on November 19, 2025, and now it’s time for the next installment.

According to government sources and previous patterns, this installment could be released sometime between the last week of February 2026 and the first week of March 2026. A formal announcement is expected sometime after February 11, 2026, although no deadline has yet been listed on the official portal.

What is mandatory to receive the installment

This time, the government has significantly tightened the data matching and verification process to ensure that only eligible farmers receive benefits. E-KYC is now mandatory to receive the installment, and payments will be stopped without it.

Additionally, your bank account must be linked to Aadhaar and activated for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Land records verification, or land seeding, must be updated on the portal. Starting in 2026, several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan, will require a unique Farmer ID for both new and existing beneficiaries.

e-KYC and Face Authentication

Farmers no longer need to rush to update their KYC, as it can be done in three easy ways. For OTP-based KYC, you can verify by entering your Aadhaar number on the PM Kisan portal. If you don’t have a smartphone, you can visit your nearest Common Service Center (CSC) and perform it biometrically.

The most convenient method is face authentication, for which you need to download the PM-KISAN and Aadhaar Face RD apps. Farmers can change their KYC status to ‘Yes’ from the comfort of their homes by simply scanning their faces.

Eligibility and Exclusions

According to the scheme rules, husband, wife, and minor children are considered a single ‘family unit,’ so only one member of the family can receive this benefit. If both husband and wife own land and are receiving benefits, payment may be stopped after verification.

Furthermore, new buyers who purchased land after February 1, 2019, are considered ineligible for this scheme, although this rule does not apply to land inherited through inheritance or death. Institutional landholders, income tax payers, and those receiving a monthly pension of more than ₹10,000 are also excluded from the scheme.

Installment Amount and Payment

Generally, eligible farmers will receive an installment of ₹2,000, but in special cases, farmers may receive up to ₹4,000. This happens when a farmer’s previous installment (the 21st installment) was withheld due to a technical issue or verification delay, and now all their documents have been found to be in order.

In this situation, the government sends a new installment with the outstanding amount added. Farmers can check their status by using the ‘Know Your Status’ option on the portal or by using the ‘Kisan eMitra’ chatbot.
