Government Agriculture Schemes: The Bihar government has taken a major initiative towards adopting modern technology in agriculture. To provide high-quality plants to farmers and increase their income, the State Horticulture Directorate, Department of Agriculture, has decided to establish two ‘Tissue Culture Labs’. These labs will produce plant material, which will be available to farmers at affordable prices, helping them reduce their cultivation costs.

The Horticulture Directorate has invited applications from interested institutions and individuals for setting up Tissue Culture Labs. These labs will improve the quality of plants and provide farmers with healthy, high-quality saplings.

Number of Labs and Cost
A total of two Tissue Culture Labs will be established in Bihar. The total cost of each lab will be Rs. 4.85 crore, of which 50%, i.e., Rs. 2.42 crore, will be provided by the state government as a subsidy. The remaining amount will have to be borne by the applicant.

Farmers will get quality plants at affordable rates from these labs. This will reduce their cultivation costs and increase their per-hectare income.

Applications for the Tissue Culture Lab can be submitted until January 31, 2026. No applications will be accepted after the last date. If the number of applications exceeds the target, the selection will be done through a lottery system.
