PF Rules- The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is preparing to launch the EPFO 3.0 portal for its 80 million account holders, and it could be launched before Diwali. The portal was originally scheduled to launch in June 2025, but technical issues prevented that from happening. A meeting chaired by Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on October 10th and 11th is expected to decide on the portal’s launch date. However, keep the focus on regular contributions.

What is the purpose and what will be the benefit?

It should be noted that the EPFO 3.0 portal will make the EPFO ”banking-like.” The purpose of launching the portal is to provide 80 million account holders with a banking-like experience when withdrawing PF funds, to digitize and make the PF withdrawal process paperless, and to integrate its functioning with the PF system. Login using the UAN number and linking the UAN with Aadhaar and PAN cards will also be mandatory on this portal. After the EPFO 3.0 portal launches, people will need to protect their ATM or UPI PINs from theft. They will also need to be wary of skimming devices and protect their retirement savings.

How will the money be withdrawn through the portal?

Please note that after the launch of the EPFO 3.0 portal, the process of withdrawing PF will change completely. The PF account will be connected to the UPI and ATM networks. There will be no need to fill out any form to withdraw PF. No documents will be required, and there will be no need to visit the EPFO office.

You can transfer money by opening the UPI app or Umang app on your mobile, or withdraw money by visiting a bank ATM. You will be able to view all the information and balance related to your PF account on your mobile or computer. If you have filed a PF claim, you will be able to track its status. You will be able to correct spelling errors, wrong date of birth, or wrong bank details in your PF account from the comfort of your home.

These will be the overall benefits from the portal

It should be noted that after the launch of the EPFO 3.0 portal, PF withdrawals from ATMs will be possible. In case of an emergency, withdrawals of up to Rs 1 lakh will be possible, and there will be no need to wait 7 to 10 days for PF claims to be settled. Money transfers will be instantaneous through PhonePe and Google Pay, integrating the PF system into a digital transaction system. Auto-claim settlement will be possible, and this process will be online.

Name, DOB, bank details, etc. in PF accounts can be updated online via OTP, eliminating the need to fill out any forms. Withdrawals and balances can be viewed graphically on Passbook Lite, the UMANG app, or the EPFO 3.0 portal. Quick balance checks and detailed passbooks will be available. The portal will be linked to the Atal Pension Yojana (APY), PM Jeevan Bima Yojana (PMJY), and may also be linked to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (AYBY). Verification, KYC, and withdrawals via OTP will reduce the risk of online fraud.
