Mangla Pashu Bima Yojana: Government Will Insure 21 Lakh Animals for Free – Know More Details

Mukhyamantri Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana is a key initiative by the Rajasthan government. It provides financial security to livestock farmers in case of accidental death of their animals. The scheme aims to strengthen the animal husbandry sector and the rural economy. This article covers all the details about the scheme.

Under this scheme, 21 lakh animals, including cows, buffaloes, goats, sheep, and camels, will be insured free of cost. Each cattle farmer can insure up to 5 milch cows or buffaloes, 10 goats or sheep, and 1 camel. In the event of accidental death of the insured animal, compensation of up to ₹40,000 for cows, buffaloes, and camels, and up to ₹4,000 for goats and sheep, will be provided.

To avail of this scheme, cattle farmers must apply by 12 January 2025. To simplify the application process, the Rajasthan government has launched the ‘MMPBY’ mobile app and official web portal. Through these platforms, farmers can easily register their animals. A Jan Aadhar card is mandatory for the application.

Highlights of the Scheme:

Insurance Coverage: The insurance amount for dairy cows and buffaloes will be based on their milk production. For a dairy cow, the coverage will be ₹3,000 per litre of milk produced, and ₹4,000 for a buffalo, with a maximum coverage of ₹40,000.

Eligibility: All registered cattle keepers with a Jan Aadhar card can avail of the benefits of this scheme.

Budget: The Rajasthan government has allocated ₹400 crore for this scheme.

Selection Process: If applications exceed the target, beneficiaries will be chosen through a lottery system. This ensures transparency and fairness in the process.

The government believes this scheme will provide financial security to cattle keepers and promote animal husbandry as a sustainable business, also creating more employment opportunities in rural areas.

Tips for Cattle Keepers:

  • Register your animals before the deadline.
  • Use the ‘MMPBY’ app or web portal for a simple and fast process.
